Join Life Without Barriers at a range of events happening across Australia in March, including Mardi Gras!

During March, Life Without Barriers is hosting and supporting in-person and online events. You can connect with our teams and learn more about our services at the events below.

New South Wales

Mardi Gras Parade

Life Without Barriers is excited to march for the fifth time alongside our LGBTQIA+ community in the 2024 Mardi Gras Parade. Keep an eye out for our float as our staff, foster carers and the people we support participate in this iconic event!

  • Date: Saturday, 2 March.

  • Time: 6pm - 11pm

  • Location: Oxford Street, Flinders Street, and Anzac Parade, Sydney, New South Wales.

The world-renowned Mardi Gras Parade returns to Oxford Street to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Festival! Over 200 floats will fill Oxford Street, Flinders Street and Anzac Parade with music and magic to celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride.

School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) Information Webinar

This free information session is for New South Wales students with disability in years 10 - 12 to learn more about employment support opportunities.

Eduardo, Employment Pathways Coach, will talk to you about NDIS School Leaver Employment Supports and how we can support you on your pathway to employment. This is an interactive session giving you lots of time to ask questions and find out what’s best for you.

Queensland

BBQ Fundraiser at Bunnings Bethania

We're holding a BBQ at Bunnings Bethania, sponsored by Superior Panel Construction, to raise funds for school holiday activities for children in care. Come down between 7am - 3pm on Saturday, 9 March, to enjoy our BBQ and chat about all things foster care with our friendly staff!

Cuppa in the Communi-tea

This free, accessible, and inclusive event connects residents with different service providers in the local community and council departments and offers technology support, free Wi-Fi, and the chance to borrow some books from the Mobile Library Van.

Drop in, have a cuppa, and chat with the Life Without Barriers team. Our friendly staff and foster carers will be happy to share all the information and insights into what it's like to be a foster carer and to answer any questions you might have.

Messy Play on Harmony Day

Come along to the Green Space at Laidley Library for the Messy Play event to celebrate Harmony Day!

This event will be a great opportunity for families with children under five years old to meet with local community organisations and service providers, with every organisation in attendance hosting a free messy play activity for children.

Our friendly staff are running an activity and will be available to chat about all things foster care and answer any questions you have.

Easter Family Night

Come along for an evening of family fun at Bunnings Plainland's Easter Family Night. There will be live music and performances, amusements, food trucks, community, and activities, including a magician, face painting and DIY crafts. There will also be a visit from the Easter bunny!

We will have a stall at the event, and our friendly staff and foster carers will be happy to share all the information and insights into what it's like to be a foster carer and to answer any questions you might have.

The Colours of the Lockyer is a spectacular showcase of all the great elements of life in and around the Lockyer Valley.

This event will showcase the amazing talents in and around the Lockyer Valley, including a market, information stalls, workshops, and live entertainment.

Closing the Gap Day

Celebrate First Nations' cultures at this free community event dedicated to closing the gap and fostering inclusivity.

Experience a deadly lineup of First Nations performers, including Kevin Kropinyeri, browse market stalls showcasing arts and crafts, enjoy interactive games and activities for children and young people, and meet and greet opportunities with sporting legends.

We will have a stall at the festival, and our friendly staff will be available to chat about all things foster care and answer any questions you have.

Voices in Action

The Create Foundation’s Voices in Action Conference brings young people, carers, and professionals together in Adelaide to collaborate and explore key issues in the out-of-home care system in Australia.

This three-day conference will include presentations from young leaders and industry-acclaimed motivational speakers, interactive workshops, fun activities for young people and opportunities for connection and collaboration.

Life Without Barriers is a proud sponsor of this year's event and we are presenting and facilitating multiple sessions during the conference. We look forward to this opportunity to listen to the voices of children and young people with a care experience and collaborate to make positive changes in the out-of-home care system across Australia.

Knox Festival

Knox Festival is a free community event welcoming locals to come together and celebrate community life. It is a great day out with live music and performances, amusements, food trucks, community, and activities for the whole family.
