How we are supporting our front-line workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Life Without Barriers’ number one priority during the COVID-19 pandemic is to provide continuity of care and promote the ongoing health and safety of our staff, carers, clients and families. In delivering to this priority and to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus (COVID-19), all Life Without Barriers front-line workers are trained and supported to safeguard members of our community who may be more vulnerable to COVID-19, including older people and people with disability.

Life Without Barriers has enacted swift measures to ensure that front-line staff are supported to prevent and control infection of the novel coronavirus.

All front-line staff working directly with clients – including those working in residential disability services – have undertaken mandatory training in:

  • Supporting people to stay safe and infection free from COVID-19;

  • Donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);

  • Temperature testing protocol;

  • How to properly use a face mask and how to administer face masks to clients;

  • Advanced COVID-19 infection control.

Life Without Barriers also has robust procedures in place to manage positive or suspected positive cases of COVID-19, in clients or staff.

We have also implemented a COVID-19 Complex Client Payment for staff who are supporting clients who have returned a positive test of COVID-19. Some Life Without Barriers’ front-line workers are also eligible for Additional Support Leave (14 days gifted leave) to ensure that they have the resources needed to properly self-isolate in the case of a positive infection or suspected positive infection.

Life Without Barriers continues to remain committed to the needs of those we support, and recognises the extra vigilance required to guarantee that both our clients and valued staff remain safe during this unprecedented time.
