Join Life Without Barriers at a range of events happening across Australia in August.

This month, Life Without Barriers is hosting and supporting in-person and online events. You can connect with our teams and learn more about our services at the events below.

Queensland

Under 8's Day

Come along to Gatton State School's Under 8's Day for a morning of fun and adventure!

This special occasion has loads of activities that are sure to please the littlest members of our community, including Old MacDonald's Travelling Farm, dance performances, gymnastics workshops and face painting!

Under 8’s Day is a relaxed and fun way for families to find out about local services. Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at the event and will be ready to answer any questions you have about foster care.

There will be plenty of exciting things happening throughout the morning, so make sure you bring all your friends and family along!

Queerswich

Come along to Queerswich, a free family fun day to celebrate Ipswich's LGBTQIA+ community.

A great event for all, with live entertainment from fabulous drag queens, musicians, comedians, and DJs, art exhibitions, a showcase of LGBTQIA+ community support and service groups, a puppy pageant, arts and crafts for the kids, a market, and food trucks.

Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at the event, ready to answer any questions you have about foster care.

South Australia

Adelaide Roller Derby Grand Final

Come along and celebrate the grand final of the Adelaide Roller Derby 2024 season. There will be live music, live commentators and a bout village filled with stalls celebrating local creators. Catch all the excitement in an entertainment filled night!

Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at the event, cheering on the teams and answering any questions you have about foster care.

The Royal Adelaide Show

South Australia's longest running and most-loved community and family event, the Royal Adelaide Show, is back for its 185th year!

The Show brings together country and city communities to celebrate excellence and innovation and to educate and connect in a vibrant carnival atmosphere.

There is something for everyone, with incredible competition entries, educational displays, local business exhibits, delicious food stalls, animals of all shapes and sizes, and thrilling rides!

Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at this event, ready to answer any questions you have about foster care.

Tasmania

Foster Care Information Webinar

Are you able to open your home and provide a safe and stable home for children and young people in care? Join our free information session to learn what's involved in becoming a foster carer and whether it's the right fit for you.

We will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers.

Our experienced team will talk you through the process and answer any specific questions you have - no matter how big or small!

National Kinship, Permanent and Foster Care Conference

Join Life Without Barriers at the National Kinship, Permanent and Foster Care Conference!

We are proud sponsors of this year’s conference and will be presenting on a number of topics including, foster care, cultural identity, education, and the MOCKINGBIRD FAMILY™ program.

We look forward to coming together with our sector and community leaders to have important conversations about the roles we all play in supporting and protecting young people in care. You will also see our friendly Foster Care team and ambassadors there!

Foster Care Information Webinar

If you're interested in sharing your home, heart, and time with a child or young person in need, please attend our free information session to learn what it's like to become a foster carer and whether it's the right fit for you.

During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session.
