This November, Life Without Barriers is hosting and supporting a number of digital and in-person events. You can connect with our teams and learn more about our services at the events below.
Australia Wide
The Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability Conference
The ASID conference brings together a diverse range of researchers, service providers, disability advocates, policymakers and practitioners across the disability sector to share research and initiatives.
This year the conference will be held over two days, Friday 4 November and Wednesday 9 November, as a fully online conference. Join the conference to access keynotes and sessions with opportunities to network and hear about international, national, and local research and other initiatives.
During the conference, you can join a session with Vanessa Musolino, Senior Policy Advisor, called ‘Nothing about us, without us’ to learn how Life Without Barriers worked with people with intellectual disability to co-design a rights statement.

New South Wales
Newcastle Pride Homegrown Markets
Join Life Without Barriers at the Newcastle Pride Homegrown Markets to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ local community!
We will have a stall at the market, and our friendly staff will be available to discuss the disability services we offer and answer any questions you have about foster care.
At Life Without Barriers, we value a diverse community of foster carers and welcome carers of any sexuality or gender.

School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) Information Webinar
Our goal at Life Without Barriers is to support young people to develop the skills needed to help you towards the career of your choice. This free online info session is for NSW students with disability in years 10 - 12 to learn more about employment support opportunities.
Come along and meet our NSW Employment Pathway Coaches who will talk you through the supports we can offer to help you on your way to a bright future.

South Australia
Adelaide Pride March
Join Life Without Barriers staff at the Adelaide Pride March!
This event celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community with a Pride March from Wauwi/Light Square to Tarntanyangga/Victoria Square via Morphett and Gouger Streets. The 1.3km march route is flat and wheelchair accessible, and there will be Auslan interpreters present.
The March is a free event with all members of the community invited to show their support for the LGBTIQA+ community.

Adelaide Picnic in the Park
Come along to Picnic in the Park!
This fabulous community event, presented by Feast Festival, is a great day out for friends and family. Explore artisan market stalls, community information villages, the sports hub and more, while enjoying a variety of cuisines from local food vendors.
We will have a stall at the market, and our friendly staff will be available to discuss the disability services we offer and answer any questions you have about foster care.

Mount Gambier Picnic in the Park
Join us at Picnic in the Park in Mount Gambier!
The Mount Gambier Picnic in the Park is an all-ages community event to celebrate Feast Festival and the Limestone Coast LGBTQIA+ community.
This is a community-organised event by volunteers of the Limestone Coast Connect community and supporters. With stalls, activities, and performances, this event is a great day out for friends and family.
Life Without Barriers is proud to support this event in its second year with our Living Arts Van travelling to the region to run creative activities and share about our local services.

Foster Care Information Webinar
Join Michael Down, Carer Practice Manager, Karina Atkins, Carer Engagement Officer, and Debraha Bills, Carer Ambassador, to learn more about Foster Care in an online information session!
During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a Foster Carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session.

The Speak Out Disability Expo
The Speak Out Disability Expo is back!
Managed and delivered by Speak Out Advocacy, the expo connects people with disability, their families and carers with the services, supports and products they require. Come along to the expo to learn more about Australia’s leading disability not-for-profit organisations and gain quality knowledge and information.
Life Without Barriers staff will be sharing information on our disability services at the expo. Our friendly staff will be available to answer your questions and can provide you with important advice specific to your needs and help guide you on your journey.

Pridefest Fairday
PrideFEST Fairday is back at Perth's Hyde Park in 2022 with more stalls, groups, food, rides and community merriment. Fairday 2022 is a free event with all members of the community invited to show their support for the LGBTIQA+ community.
Life Without Barriers staff will be at the event, ready to chat with attendees about foster care and all of the great services we offer. We are also running free face painting and we will have a table for applying temporary tattoos of the LGBTIQA+ flag.

Pridefest Parade
Join Life Without Barriers carers and staff at the Pridefest Parade!
This event celebrates the LGBTQIA+ community with a Pride March. The procession kicks off from Russell Square and goes down Aberdeen, William and James Streets, passing the main commentary stage at the Northbridge Pride Piazza before returning to Russell Square. Pre-Parade entertainment will kick off at 6pm with live bands and dancers wowing crowds along the Parade route as well.
The March is a free event with all members of the community invited to show their support for the LGBTIQA+ community.
