This September, Life Without Barriers is hosting and supporting a number of in-person and online events. You can connect with our teams and learn more about our services at the events below.

National Event

First People's Disability Network - Virtual Voice Town Hall

Where Online event

The First People's Disability Network invites everyone from across the disability sector to an online community gathering to learn more about the Voice Referendum. This is also a day to come together in solidarity with First Nations People, because as the disability community knows all too well - nothing about us, without us. 

This is an opportunity for the disability sector to come together, learn, and engage in a constructive conversation about the Voice Referendum and its potential impact.

New South Wales

Foster Care Information Webinar

Learn everything you need to know about foster care at our free online information session.

During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session.

Care Expo Brisbane

Care Expo Brisbane brings together a diverse range of community services, businesses and organisations from the support, health, and care industries.

We will have a stall at the event, sharing information on our; disabilityaged carefoster care and child, youth and family services. Our friendly staff will be available to answer your questions and can provide you with important advice specific to your needs and help guide you on your journey.

Foster Care Information Webinar

Are you able to open your home and provide a safe and stable home for children and young people in care? Join our free information session to learn what's involved in becoming a foster carer and whether it's the right fit for you.

During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session.

Under 5’s Day

The Together4Lockyer, in partnership with Laidley District State School and Child Protection Week, offers this unique and special event as part of the Laidley Spring Festival. Families with children five years and under are welcome to explore a range of activities suited to small children, including, arts and crafts, face painting, an animal nursery, music, games, story times, a magic show, giant bubbles and emergency services.

Families will be able to explore what’s on offer in the Lockyer and talk with experts in wellbeing, health and education. Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at the event, ready to answer any questions you have about foster care.

National Child Protection Week

Join us at Pine Rivers Park, Strathpine, to celebrate National Child Protection Week 2023! There will be plenty to do on the day including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dancers, free children’s activities and a free BBQ Lunch!

  • Time: 10am – 2pm

  • Location: Pine Rivers Park, 125 Gympie Road, Strathpine.

This event is held in partnership with Life Without Barriers and Kurbingui Youth and Family Development.

South Australia

Foster Care Information Webinar

If you're interested in sharing your home, heart and time with a child or young person in need, please join our free information session to learn what's involved in becoming a foster carer and whether it's the right fit for you.

During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. Our experienced team and a local foster carer will talk you through the process and answer any questions you have - no matter how big or small!

Have Your Say Naarm

First Peoples Disability Network (FPDN) are working hard to ensure that all Australians with lived disabilities are empowered to make an informed decision about an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament.

The catered event will feature a Welcome to Country, live music, Auslan interpreters and speakers FPDN CEO Damian Griffis, Life Without Barriers Chief Innovation Officer Emma Bennison, Journalist Jeff Macmullin and Indigenous disability rights advocate Daniel Macdonald.

Western Australia

First Peoples Disability Network are heading to Boorloo (Perth), WA, for a #HaveYourSay event on the 27th of September.

This free event (with free merchandise available too) is open to everyone who wants to support First Nations people with disability to have their voices heard on the Voice to Parliament. Even if you’re not sure where you stand, please come along and learn about why this historic vote is so important to First Nations peoples.
