National Carers Week 2020 runs from 11 – 17 October and aims to raise awareness of unpaid carers and their caring role in Australia.

National Carers Week is a time to recognise the 2.65 million Australians who provide unpaid care and support to a family member or friend with disability, mental health condition, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue or who are frail aged.

Did you know 1-in-8 Australians provide unpaid care and support to family members or friends? Unpaid carers make an enormous contribution to our community as well as our economy, and National Carers Week gives everyone a chance to show their appreciation.

This year, Cares Australia are asking all unpaid carers to tell them why you care so they can highlight the realities of caring and help build a carer-friendly Australia.

Get Involved with this year’s campaign – whether that be hosting a physical or digital event, or making a buzz on social media, spreading the word through your social media channels by using the hashtags #Carers2020 and #WhyWeCare

If you’re a carer, you can share your caring story – the more we share, the louder our voice will be! Imagine the impact if we had a personal story for every one of Australia’s 2.65 million carers.

By painting an authentic picture of caring in Australia, we can raise awareness of the incredible contribution that unpaid carers make to our nation.

Life Without Barriers wants to thank all our carers - in aged care, foster care, and disability support, and to our colleagues who are caring for someone at home.
