During February, Life Without Barriers is hosting and supporting in-person and online events. You can connect with our teams and learn more about our services at the events below.

New South Wales

School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) - Information Webinar

This free information session is for New South Wales students with disability in years 10 - 12 to learn more about employment support opportunities.

Employment Pathways Coach Eduardo will talk to you about NDIS School Leaver Employment Supports and how we can support you on your pathway to employment. This is an interactive session giving you lots of time to ask questions and find out what’s best for you.

Queensland

Cuppa in the Communi-tea

This free, accessible, and inclusive event connects residents with different service providers in the local community and council departments and offers technology support, free Wi-Fi, and the chance to borrow some books from the Mobile Library Van.

Drop in, have a cuppa, and chat with the Life Without Barriers team. Our friendly staff and foster carers will be happy to share all the information and insights into what it's like to be a foster carer and to answer any questions you might have.

South Australia

National Apology Day Event

Coordinated by a committee of local NGOs in partnership with Reconciliation SA and the City of Adelaide, and chaired by Baptist Care SA with active support from Nunkuwarrin Yunti, this National Apology Day event acknowledges the 16th anniversary of the Apology made by former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on behalf of the Australian Government to the Stolen Generations.

All are welcome to attend a peaceful walk at 9:30am from Tarntanyangga (Victoria Square) to Veale Park, where the event will run from 10am-2pm with live entertainment, stalls and a free lunch.

Life Without Barriers is proud to be a partner of this event. At our stall, the Living Arts program will be running interactive activities, including Ngarrindjeri Weaving, while staff from our Residential Care Program will be helping to cook and serve the free BBQ Lunch.

Foster Care Information Session

If you're interested in sharing your home, heart and time with a child or young person in need, please join our free information session to learn what's involved in becoming a foster carer and whether it's the right fit for you.

During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. Our experienced team and a local foster carer will talk you through the process and answer any questions you have - no matter how big or small!

  • Time: 6:30pm – 7:30pm

Having a Say Conference

The Having a Say Conference is a national conference held each year in Geelong, Victoria and is a conference for people with disability, their families, and support networks.

Life Without Barriers is proud to be a Silver Sponsor this year and will be there as attendees, volunteers, and supporters. You can find our stall in the main foyer, facilitated by people we support and staff members who will be available to answer your questions and provide important advice specific to your needs.

The Having a Say Conference is back!

Victoria Pride Street Party

The iconic Gertrude and Smith Streets will once again be transformed into a free, all-day, jam-packed block party for all ages, with multiple live music stages and performances from local and international musicians and artists to celebrate Victoria’s diverse LGBTQIA+ communities.

Life Without Barriers has a stall, and our friendly staff and foster care ambassadors are looking forward to connecting with the LGBTQIA+ community to discuss foster care in Victoria. You can find us opposite Nourish Collingwood, 118 Smith Street.

We will also bring along our flag with messages for LGBTQIA+ children and young people in care from the Midsumma Carnival, so come down and check out the awesome messages for LGBTQIA+ children and young people and leave your mark!
