For Homelessness Week 2020, Life Without Barriers is seeking donations of clean blankets and bedding at our Berri Street Office - we are also taking part in 'Walk a Mile in My Boots'

This week is Homelessness Week and the Life Without Barriers team in South Australia have a full week of activities planned to help the homeless.

We are commencing the week, Monday 3 August, with a free community lunch. Brok Bates is delivering from his mobile food van and the Salvation Army, Foodbank and Second Bite are partnering with us.

We are also having a blanket and bedding drive with drop off points at local councils and MP’s offices. We are finishing the week with a 4 Mile Walk to support the Hutt St Centre’s ‘Walk a Mile in My Boots’ campaign. The South Australia Riverland team are currently sitting at 13th out of 201 teams with $3,329 raised so far. A huge effort! To support our team you can do so by donating here and by sharing this story with your networks!

Walk a Mile In my Boots

Since 2008, South Australians have come together during National Homelessness Week in August to take part in Walk a Mile in My Boots to show their support for those experiencing homelessness. Last year, the community raised a total of $278,555 for Hutt St Centre to continue providing life changing, essential wellbeing and professional services to help rebuild lives.

2020 has been a rough year for all of us, but especially for those living on our streets. With more than 6,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia, they need your help more than ever.

While COVID-19 will impact the ability to gather in large groups for the 'Walk a Mile in My Boots' event in Adelaide… people can still walk a mile (or more!) to support people experiencing homelessness.

On Friday 7 August, we’ll be collectively walking 6,000 miles to raise funds for the 6,000 people experiencing homelessness in South Australia. All funds go to Hutt St Centre who have been supporting people for more than 65 years by providing a hearty meal, a hot shower, all in a safe, welcoming space.

Together we can help end homelessness.
