Australia-wide

Education Webinar: Children and Young People as Digital Citizens

Screen time is one of the top worries for Australian caregivers. This worry is coupled with guilt and confusion as to how to navigate this ever-changing space.

This webinar aims to explore screen time anxieties and support a changing conversation around children and tech use.

This webinar will be supported by the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child.

Facing the storm together: how we plan and respond to weather-related disasters

The Disability Dialogue is holding another online event and would love for you to be there!

This event will focus on planning and responding to weather-related disasters, and will discuss how we can make sure people with disability are safe and prepared for storms, floods, heat waves and other extreme weather events.

We will hear from people with disability, including First Nations communities and international perspectives, about how they approach planning for weather-related disasters and their prevention efforts.

Age Well, Stay Connected

Join this free community gathering for seniors, their families and carers, volunteers and sector professionals for a day of connection, conversation, and collaboration.

Featuring inspiring speakers, interactive workshops and powerful lived experiences, the Age Well, Stay Connected event is an opportunity to share ideas and experiences to help shape future directions and priorities for preventing social isolation among older Queenslanders.

REFOCUS Family Fun Day

This family-friendly community day will offer hands-on activities and cultural celebrations including jumping castles, sausage sizzles, traditional face painting, Indigenous dancing, art workshops, yarning circles, and food stalls.

There will also be information booths to connect families with local support services. Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at this event, ready to answer any questions you have about foster care.

Summer Land Camels Spring Markets

Experience the best of a boutique country market! Come and support local Scenic Rim producers and businesses, as well as others from around Southeast Queensland. Eat, shop, have a great time with friends, enjoy the stunning views from our property, and relax to the sounds of a local entertainer while you browse through the stalls.

Make sure you stop by the Life Without Barriers stall, where our friendly staff and foster care ambassadors will be ready to answer your questions and chat all things foster care.

Spring Carnival

Come along to the Spring Carnival – Free Community Fun Day hosted by Encircle Community Services. This event is a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local community and will be a great day of fun for all with free amusement rides, face painting, petting zoo, live music, delicious food and community stalls.

Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will be hosting a stall at this event, and will be ready to chat all things foster care.

Wamuran's F.A.M (Food Art Music) Festival

Discover local tastes at Wamuran's F.A.M (Food Art Music) Festival, a free food, art and music festival celebrating local producers, makers and artists from Wamuran and surrounds.

The Festival will feature local producers and food vendors, a range of talented local artists, community stalls, live music from local musicians and food trucks.

Certificate III training course in Individual Support, Capalaba

Looking for a rewarding career in the disability sector? Begin your journey by enrolling in the next Certificate III course in Individual Support (Disability) with Myhorizon.

Make a difference in the lives of people with disability, illness or injury by learning real skills to provide individualised, person-centred support.

As part of this nationally recognised qualification, you will also gain real experience in a work placement (120 hours required) preparing you for your rewarding career in the disability services sector.

This ‘Skilling Queenslanders for Work’ Project is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government. Funding is available for eligible participants.

  • Length:18 weeks in classroom + 120 hours industry placement

Foster Care Information Webinar

If you live in South Australia and are interested in sharing your home, heart and time with a child or young person in need, please join our free information session to learn what's involved in becoming a foster or kinship carer and whether it's the right fit for you.

During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session.

Foster Care Week Webinar: What We Wish We Knew on Day One

Join Fiona te Wierik, Life Without Barriers Carer and Foster Care Association of Victoria(FCAV) Carer Ambassador, in discussion with Deb Collard, FCAV Learning and Development Coordinator, for this special Foster Care Week webinar discussing supports, information and preparations Fiona and her husband Michael wish they’d known before that first child arrived in their care.

Fiona and Michael have been fostering for 17 years with Life Without Barriers and over that time they have experienced and overcome many of the challenges and nuances that being a foster carer can bring. They have not only provided love and stability to many children and young people but have also gathered a strong toolkit between them which Fiona will be sharing in this webinar.

Social Football with Dynamo Melbourne Football Club

Life Without Barriers has partnered with Dynamo Melbourne Football Club to run Social Football Sessions!

These sessions aim to provide people from diverse backgrounds, including refugees and migrants a chance to play, connect, and feel at home in Melbourne, with a focus on building skills, confidence, and connections.

By working together, we aim to strengthen bonds within our local community and create spaces where everyone feels welcome and supported.
