During October, Life Without Barriers is hosting and supporting in-person and online events. You can connect with our teams and learn more about our services at the events below.

Australia-wide

AI is here and it’s changing the way we live, work and connect.

The Disability Dialogue is holding another online event and would love for you to be there!

Join this month's open dialogue event where you can share stories, explore opportunities, and have an honest conversation about the role of AI in everyday life, from its benefits and challenges, to how we can use it safely.

  • Date: Wednesday, 22 October

  • Time:

    • 1.00pm – 2.30pm AEST (for people in NSW, QLD, VIC, ACT, TAS)

    • 12.30pm – 2.00pm (for people in SA and NT)

    • 11.00am – 12.30pm (for people in WA)

  • Location: Online.

New South Wales

Western Sydney Wanderers Game

Join us at CommBank Stadium for an exciting Western Sydney Wanderers match and a night of football, community, and connection. Thanks to the Wanderers, our young people and carers will be attending with 100 complimentary tickets, making this a special event for the Life Without Barriers community.

Life Without Barriers’ staff and foster care ambassadors will also be running a Sharing is Caring stall at the stadium, providing information about foster care and answering any questions for those interested in becoming carers.

  • Time: Kick off is at 5pm, gates open 15-30 prior to kick off

Queensland

Loud & Proud Logan

Join us on International Coming Out Day at Loud & Proud Logan for a free vibrant celebration of love, identity, and community. Experience a day filled with art, music, and a line-up of exciting events and performances.

Life Without Barriers' staff and foster care ambassadors will be hosting a stall at this inclusive event, celebrating the queer community and available to answer any questions you have about foster care.

  • Date: Saturday, 11 October

  • Time: 1pm – 8:30pm

  • Location: Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct, 270 Jacaranda Avenue, Kingston, Queensland.

North Lakes Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser

The Life Without Barriers' Foster Care team is hosting a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle to raise funds and awareness about the need for foster carers in the Moreton Bay Region.

Come down to Bunnings to grab a sausage and chat with our friendly staff about all things foster care. Our staff can talk you through the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a foster carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers.

  • Time: 8am - 3pm

  • Location: 18-28 Cook Court, North Lakes, Queensland.

Victoria

Foster Care Information Webinar

If you live in Victoria and are interested in sharing your home, heart and time with a child or young person in need, please join our free information session to learn what's involved in becoming a foster or kinship carer and whether it's the right fit for you.

During the session, we will cover the different types of care, the application and assessment process, the roles and responsibilities of being a carer and the support you will receive from Life Without Barriers. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A session.

  • Time: 6pm

  • Location: Online event.

Social Football with Dynamo Melbourne Football Club

Life Without Barriers has partnered with Dynamo Melbourne Football Club to run Social Football Sessions!

These sessions aim to provide people from diverse backgrounds, including refugees and migrants a chance to play, connect, and feel at home in Melbourne, with a focus on building skills, confidence, and connections.

By working together, we aim to strengthen bonds within our local community and create spaces where everyone feels welcome and supported.

  • Date: Every Tuesday night!

  • Time: 7pm - 9pm

  • Location: JJ Holland Park (next to South Kensington Train Station), Kensington, Victoria.
