Education Webinar: Raising Expectations
This webinar will be supported by the team from the Raising Expectation Program, an initiative of the Centre for Excellence in Family and Child Welfare.
Raising Expectations partners with TAFEs and universities to embed support for students with care experience. Their work includes building the capacity and confidence of students with a care experience to provide tailored support to care leavers, strengthening their transitions into post-secondary education.
This webinar will explore how we can develop pathway strategies for young people as they transition beyond school.

Education Webinar: Bullying
Children have the right to learn and develop in safe and healthy environments. Protecting children from bullying and working to prevent it in schools and other settings is part of creating safe environments that help children grow and thrive.
This webinar will explore how to identify if your child is experiencing bullying or perhaps exhibiting some bullying behaviours.
The webinar will be supported by Matt Purcell, the founder of Social Kung Fu, whose mission is the support students with communication skills that will help them survive and thrive at school.

Light up the Lake - The Lakes Festival
The Lakes Festival is celebrating its tenth year! This popular annual event brings locals and visitors together to enjoy exciting family-friendly activities, cultural and educational programs hosted by local organisations and businesses.
Dive into a world of fun activities, live music, roving performers, community stalls and mouth-watering eats from some of the region’s favourite food trucks. There are also plenty of activities for the kids from crafty fun like painting nature-themed pebbles and building colourful windmills, to face painting and messy play.
Life Without Barriers staff and foster care ambassadors will have a stall at this event, ready to answer any questions you have about foster care.

ASID 2025 Conference: Learning from the Past, Shaping the Future
Life Without Barriers is proud to sponsor the 2025 ASID conference, an event that brings together researchers, policymakers, service providers, practitioners, families, carers, and people with intellectual disability. The conference provides a valuable platform to share new research, explore ideas, and discuss emerging developments in disability services and policy.
Our team will be presenting on:
Housing: From vacancy management to person-led living – a practical approach to enhancing choice, voice, and living arrangements for people with disability with Rainbow Yuen, Professional Learning Specialist, and Cat Lancaster, Executive Director Innovation and Practice Excellence.
Relationships: Relationships, intimacy and sexuality – core to the human experience with Jacqui Astolfi, Manager, National Hubs and Projects, Disability and Mental Health.
Leanne Johnson, Deputy Chief Executive, Disability and Mental Health, will also take part in a panel discussion exploring key policy issues affecting people with intellectual disability.
Join us at the Conference to hear from international and local experts, take part in workshops and sessions, and connect with others passionate about improving outcomes for people with disability.

National Foster and Kinship Care Conference
Join Life Without Barriers at the National Kinship, Permanent and Foster Care Conference!
This year the theme is 'Empowering Carers to Transform Lives', providing delegates with valuable insights from leading experts, the opportunity to participate in practical workshops and connect with other carers to share experiences and best practices.
We are proud sponsors of this year’s conference and will be presenting on a number of topics including, co-designing the foster care journey with diverse expertise and evidence, and young people's reflections on living in care, hosted in partnership with our youth advisory group members.

Moreton Bay Eco Fest
The Moreton Bay Eco Fest is a fun family event promoting sustainability and eco-friendly lifestyle ideas. Join leading sustainability experts, community organisations, foodies, green-thumbs, conservationists and more, who will share practical tips on how to live more sustainably.

National Disability Services Executive Leaders Conference
The NDS Executive Leaders Conference brings together senior leaders, innovators, and changemakers from across the disability sector to share ideas and shape the future of disability services, focusing on collaboration, innovation, and advocacy.
This year’s theme, 'Collaborating for Quality,' explores what quality really means in disability services and how we can work together to achieve it.
Across the conference, attendees will hear from leading voices in the sector, connect with peers and policymakers, and take part in timely discussions on reform and the future of the sector. Life Without Barriers Deputy Chief Executive Disability and Mental Health Leanne Johnson, will join the panel 'What makes a quality provider? Putting the evidence into action,' exploring how evidence-based approaches can be embedded in practice.

Social Football with Dynamo Melbourne Football Club
Life Without Barriers has partnered with Dynamo Melbourne Football Club to run Social Football Sessions!
These sessions aim to provide people from diverse backgrounds, including refugees and migrants a chance to play, connect, and feel at home in Melbourne, with a focus on building skills, confidence, and connections.
By working together, we aim to strengthen bonds within our local community and create spaces where everyone feels welcome and supported.
