Disability and aged care service provider Life Without Barriers has broadly welcomed budget
measures for increased funding for services for people with disability and
elderly Australians.
These measures include:
A further $3.9 billion in funding for the NDIS;
A further $90 million for the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission;
$10.6 million to connect young people with disability to age appropriate accommodation, preventing them from entering aged care facilities;
23,000 more home care packages valued at $1.6 billion, as well as measures to support the aged care workforce.
Life Without Barriers Chief Executive Claire Robbs said, “We welcome budget measures which will continue to support NDIS participants and guarantee they get the services they need. We’re also pleased to see that the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission will receive more funding – ensuring that service providers deliver the highest quality services.”
"Life Without Barriers will continue to work with the government to ensure that the NDIS provides a world class service for people with disability.
We also gladly welcome funding for additional home care packages for older Australians. The demand for this program will only continue to grow - this increase is a step in the right direction."
