The Board of Life Without Barriers is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Kurt Fearnley AO, as Non-Executive Director.

Kurt is a dedicated advocate for people with disability, a published author, accomplished TV Host, three-time Paralympic gold medalist and two-time Commonwealth Games medalist.

Kurt was awarded Officer of the Australian Order in 2018 and is publicly recognised for his commitment to sport and disability advocacy, for which he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Griffith University.

Kurt is recognised as a passionate, inclusive leader, creating constructive, national discussion on important issues of social justice and the opportunities society must embrace in relation to equality for people with disability in our community. Kurt currently hosts ABC TV’s One Plus One and recently hosted the highly popular SBS series ‘What does Australia really think about disability?’

Kurt joins the Board to offer leadership in how Life Without Barriers’ recognises and responds to the choices of people with disability and the ongoing role the organisation has in contributing towards equity of people with disability in our community.

Kurt is also a Board member of the Australian Sports Commission, Compeat Nutrition, the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation and was a founding member of the National Disability Insurance Scheme’s Advisory Council.
