For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples - this Media Statement contains the name of an Aboriginal person who has died.

Life Without Barriers extends our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and community who are mourning the death of Noongar boy, Cassius Turvey. We also offer our thoughts to the 13-year-old child who was assaulted and other children who were present at the time Cassius was killed. Children should never be exposed to witnessing such horrific events.

Life Without Barriers stands in support of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and all people and their communities impacted by this tragedy.

There is no justification for the murder of a child, and Life Without Barriers condemns such acts of violence, for which no motivation is ever justified.

This senseless and brutal act occurred when a child was doing something millions of children do across our country every day – walking home from school. All children, without equivocation, should not only feel safe, but be safe in their communities. This right to safety and protection is extended to all children, without exception.
