The importance of learning for carers

Whether we are an applicant, provisional or authorised Foster and Kinship carer (carer), we need to increase our knowledge and skills to meet children's needs. One of the ways we can achieve this is by engaging in regular learning.

Applicants and authorised carers must complete all mandatory learning requirements for their relevant state. We also recommend that authorised carers engage in at least three learning opportunities (inclusive of state requirements) annually.

Many learning opportunities are available nationwide for carers. We encourage Carers to seek internal and external learning opportunities that meet their needs and preferences.
