Short break care
Some children benefit from short break care, also known as respite care. It is regular or occasional time with carers who are not the child’s primary carers but ideally carers who have an ongoing relationship with the child.
Short breaks should occur only when it is in the best interests of children. As far as possible this should be normalised, in a similar way to children having a sleepover with their grandparents or family friends.
