Carer allowance

Carers receive financial support to meet the costs of caring in the form of a carer allowance. Rates of allowance vary depending on your state or territory, the needs of the child and the number of children in the family group.

Carer allowances are designed to cover your day to day costs of care and to purchase items based on the child’s needs. If a child leaves your care make they sure take any items purchased for them while they were in your care. This might include clothes, laptop computers and personal items.
