Food and cultural considerations

If you are caring for a child from a culture different to yours it‘s helpful to understand the foods they are used to and how to incorporate this into your weekly menu. You may care for a child who has religious or cultural reasons for eating particular foods and this must be respected, while maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.

Sometimes children decide to adopt a vegetarian or vegan diet. Help them understand what to eat in place of meat based protein.
