How we celebrated international day of people with disability
International Day of People with Disability occurred on Monday 3 December. Here is a snapshot of some of the amazing events that happened across the country this week as LWB celebrated this day.
It’s an important day for LWB because we support over 5,000 clients with disability and 9% of our staff identify as having disability.
In SA the team celebrated with a morning tea in the Living Arts Centre at our Netley office with staff, Disability and Homelessness clients. They also worked together to decorate leaves to create a beautiful 'Community Circle' art piece.
The VIC Disability Services team held an event with a special speech from Ibrahim, a local community member who shared his experiences as a person with disability. One of their clients, Karen delighted them with her singing and dancing. It sounds like a great afternoon.
The team in Orange NSW, celebrated International Day of People with Disability by holding a Colour Run for clients and carers. The run was a community event, with students from the local schools also getting to attend.
And the Ipswich QLD team had a very special presentation from Tyson who joined them to speak about his experiences transitioning over to the NDIS. He also discussed what inclusiveness and equality meant to him. This is only a small of the numerous creative events held around the country.
