Diversity in Community | National Refugee Week 2025
National Refugee Week is a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of refugees in Australia. As a proud partner of the Refugee Council of Australia and in recognition of Refugee Week’s 2025 theme of Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community, Life Without Barriers is proud to launch our national storytelling campaign, Celebrating Community.
Between 18 June & 18 July 2025, you're invited to share the vibrance of your community with us – whatever that may look like.

At Life Without Barriers, we know the richness of our backgrounds and experience makes us a strong and courageous organisation. We are proud of our multicultural identity, and we recognise the lived experiences and contributions of people from refugee backgrounds that have made Life Without Barriers and the communities we serve, a better place.
How can I get involved?
All Life Without Barriers staff, carers and clients are invited to enter a submission that reflects their community, either through:
Photography
Short form video (Up to 60 seconds)
Short form written word (Up to 150 words)
You’re invited to explore the diversity and culture of your community in any form you’d like. Examples could look like:
A photograph of a client’s much-loved local barista serving their neighbourhood.
A short video featuring a staff member’s community dance troupe celebrating cultural identity through movement.
A portrait or candid photo reflecting a carer’s family life.
A short story detailing a lunch that brings people of all backgrounds together.
How the celebration will work
Multiculturalism and community come in many vibrant and different forms - our campaign seeks to capture and celebrate all of these.
While submitting a well-constructed photo, video or short piece of writing will help, what we’re really looking for is the feeling we get from your submission. That warm and moving feeling you get when you view or hear something powerful.
We want to uplift and shine a light on impactful submissions that showcase the spirit and tenacity of our broad community.
No matter who you are in our broader Life Without Barriers community, we look forward to witnessing your expression of your community.

Share the vibrance of your community
What does your community look and feel like? We invite you to show us from your perspective – through images, words or video. Whether it’s a shared meal, a street you love, or a moment that captures community spirit, your perspective helps us celebrate the strength in our differences.
