We're at the forefront of providing people living with a disability with a family based care option that promotes the opportunity to establish meaningful relationships.
Our Extended Family Options service, also known as Host Family Care or Alternative Family Care, provides quality support to host families, ensuring people who live with a disability are able to maintain community based placement in a safe and supportive home environment.
The service involves the voluntary placement of a child, young person or adult who lives with a disability with a screened and assessed voluntary alternative family who provides care and support in their own home. This includes shared care and full time arrangements.
In the case of a child or young person, Extended Family Options are provided for those who are unable to live permanently with their birth families and where there are no child protection grounds for their placement.
