Community Living (In-Home Support)

We support people living with a disability to maintain their independence as valued members of their community by enabling them to live in their own home. Support is tailored to an individual's needs and goals, and targets areas that will maximise opportunity, independence, growth and personal outcomes.

The level of support that is provided is for a fixed number of hours per day and days per week with varying ratios depending on the specific in home service being provided with the aim of providing a high level of quality support to people who do not require full time assistance.

The common services available are:

  • Domestic support - supporting people with disabilities to maintain their residence (e.g. laundry, cleaning, cooking,) within community normative standards
  • Personal care - depending upon individual circumstances, support will be provided to meet identified personal needs and goals
  • Community network support - supporting people to live in their local community and to develop their personal networks and friendships.
Support is provided in a person's home and is therefore less structured than more intensive accommodation options and is designed to provide tailored supports to the person and to address their developmental needs. This form of service is typically reserved for people with less intensive needs who do not wish to live in a congregate care or host family care placement.
