Immigration

Life Without Barriers is running two innovative support programs for unaccompanied young asylum seekers. Immigration services are delivered to unaccompanied minors who arrive by boat and are being processed on Christmas Island and the mainland by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC). These services provide direct day-to-day physical care and emotional support to each individual with a shared understanding and respect for their culture and experience of seeking asylum in Australia.

We also provide an Independent Observer service, supporting young people undergo the visa application process.

We have a team of culturally appropriate carers on the island, all of whom moved to the island motivated by the desire to support young people seeking asylum.

Services are time limited.
